Coming to Cambridge Part 1.

How do you start a business in a brand new area? Do you go independently or open a franchise? We meet Gentiana, our latest franchise salon owner as she prepares to open Rush Cambridge on 28th November.

In Part 1 of a 3 part blog series, we find out why Gentiana decided to relocate to Cambridge and what made her franchise with Rush.

Hi Gentiana, tell us about yourself:

GENTIANA: I’m 23 years old and have been a stylist for 6 years. I knew I always wanted to be a hairdresser and went straight into the hairdressing industry as soon as a left school. I’m incredibly hard working and wanted to be my own boss and run my own salon, so decided to franchise with Rush to make this happen. I have recently relocated from my home in North London with my sister Agnesa to start my business in Cambridge as I think it’s the perfect place to open a Rush salon.

So how did you choose your location? What made you choose Cambridge?

GENTIANA: My sister and I felt Cambridge was missing a Rush, it needed something fun and modern. We love the village feel you get with Cambridge, the slower pace from London and being able to really get to know your clients. There are so many students in Cambridge and huge potential for business here. We are opening the first Rush in Cambridge so I’m excited to bring Rush to the community and build close relationships with clients. Rush’s Operations teams helped us secure the perfect location for the salon right in the heart of the city centre next to Grafton shopping centre, it will be hard to miss us!

Why did you decide to open a hair salon franchise rather than an independent salon?

GENTIANA: It was the backing and support you get from a big brand that attracted me to franchise instead of opening my own independent salon. I feel more secure that the customers trust and understand a popular brand like Rush and the high standard it offers. 8/10 people would rather go to a recognisable brand rather than an unknown salon so I wanted to have Rush’s name behind me.

What made you choose to franchise with Rush?

GENTIANA: Again it was the support that attracted me to Rush. I’ve had such close communication between the whole team especially the Chairman, the Operations Director and the CFO I’ve been able to ask lots of questions and they’ve all been very helpful and patient with me! The process has been good, I thought it would be quite scary and I’d be alone, but that has not been the case at all, everything’s going very smoothly.
