What did RUSH get up to at Salon International?
The world-renowned hairdressing event; Salon International took place between the Saturday 15th-Monday 17th October. There were over 400 brands showcasing their products and services. The event usually has over 38,462 visitors from 80+ countries who attend.
This year there were new show features, which were; HJ Men Stage, HJ Legends Lounge, Business Bubble, Education, National Trichology Conference and Hair Health Village. The new additions to Salon International complimented the favourites, which were; HJ Stage, British Hairdressing Awards Gallery and the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Stage.
On the first day of Salon International thousands of people attended the event, our RUSH stand looked incredible, and we were ready to hand out our freebies and answer questions. One member of our dedicated marketing team helped out on the GOSH stand for the morning to help raise money and create awareness.
The Saturday was aimed at mostly trade, although it was busy, it wasn’t as crazy as the Sunday and Monday! On Saturday the RUSH showcased their talent on the HJ Stage between 12-12:25PM. The Creative Team were also at the Fellowship Stage between 2:00-2:20PM. Both stages attracted a lot of keen hairdressers, eager to see what the team would create. There was a definite buzz around the venue, the RUSH team were busy handing out flyers, goodie bags, badges, and Lindt chocolate to anyone that came and visited the stand. The team pushed the sale of RUSH Live tickets as all proceeds went to GOSH. The RUSH stand had a stage of its own, which hosted our very own stylists throughout the 3-day event.
Day two of Salon International and everyone at RUSH couldn’t be more excited. RUSH Live had finally come around after months and months of planning. The constant restock of the Lindt chocolate bowl just proved how popular the stand was. The marketing team handed out stacks of flyers which advertised RUSH Live and the new Covent Garden Academy which opens in 2017. The Sunday was a busy day for all, the franchise team were taking inquiry after inquiry, and the recruitment team were constantly chatting to people about joining the RUSH family.
Before RUSH Live started, the Creative Team had another appearance on the Fellowship Stage between 12:45-1PM. The crowds grew by the minute, everyone had their mobile phones out and were capturing what Andy was doing on stage. Meanwhile, the RUSH stylists were on our RUSH stage showing off their skills, which yet again had attracted a big crowd. The marketing team were running around to sell the remaining tickets in aid of GOSH.
Once the day was over the team could start preparing for RUSH Live. The stylists backstage were making their final changes to the models. The inspiration this year was ‘S&M Punk and Sports Lux‘. The models looked incredible and their outfits complimented their hair. The VIP guests arrived and the champagne was flowing, everyone was looking forward to the show. The auditorium filled with guests, which included RUSH staff members from salons all over the UK. The show was incredible, it featured amazing looks created by the Artistic and Colour teams.
Monday was the final day of Salon International, and the last day was popular with students. The marketing team handed out the RUSH Oyster cards and the recruitment team was extremely busy with eager students asking for Apprentice roles, they were all keen to find out more about the new academy. The RUSH team were on stage all day to recreate Sunday evenings looks, which the students were mesmerized by as a lot of them couldn’t make RUSH Live, so they were pleased they weren’t missing out.
Overall, the three-day event was a huge success. RUSH would like to thank our sponsors; HJ, Maletti, i-salon, KMS and L’Oreal Professionel for sponsoring RUSH Live. We would also like to thank GOSH, they did an incredible job fundraising all weekend, and we are glad to have them as our charity partner.
